Antarctica, Falklands & South Georgia - a travel story Part 1

Presented by David Jones

Part 1 - Falkland Islands & South Georgia. In January of this year I went on a three-week expedition cruise to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the Antarctic Peninsula. For most of you the Falkland Islands would only be in your memory from the time of the war between the UK and Argentina. South Georgia may ring a bell for being the location for much of the spectacular footage in David Attenborough’s “Frozen Planet” or the island on which Ernest Shackleton found rescue.

Come and hear about what makes this part of the world so special from both geographic and biological perspectives, and along way hear some fascinating things about the animals that make it their home.
