Computer Basics part 1

This series of talks and workshops is for those who want to conquer their machines with know-how rather than a hammer!
There will be four classes that cover the following topics, even more if you want! Any requests for more advanced computing can be passed to the Course Coordinator.
Different sorts of computers; how to choose a computer; some terminology explained (wireless, WiFi, bluetooth, NFC); ISP, data plans, network and connectivity; computer accounts with Microsoft and Google; Windows basics; signing in; updating; navigating with mouse, keyboard and fingers; security and viruses; passwords; different file types; file management; saving important files and photos; cloud computing; writing with Word; creating a pdf file; keeping a simple spreadsheet; synching between your computer, tablet and smartphone; basic emails and spam; searching with Google; using maps and Google Earth. The Internet of Things.
It isn't required, but bring along your computing device if you want and I will get you going.
